Last weekend saw me become a tour guide for the weekend, taking my best friend Matt and his girlfriend Kayla around London.
I have lived in a few places over the years, and trying to get these two to visit has been like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We never got round to it, but finally we were able to organise them coming up! After a few emails discussing it, Kayla sent through the list of what she wants to do…
So not too much to do in three days ay!
After much excitement and planning, they arrived in quick time on Thursday evening, fresh faced and ready to tackle London over the next three nights. What Kayla hadn’t planned for was the amount of walking we would be doing, or alcohol we would consume. *evil laugh*
Having two fans of Made in Chelsea with me, it only seemed fitting to head down there and have a wander around to spot some of the areas they see on TV en route to the Museum. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any of the stars, but it was still great to take them around there.
With a hop on the tube, we found ourselves inside Harrods. For Kayla, and any other shopaholic, this is HEAVEN! For Matty, this is the complete opposite. Sure, guys don’t mind shopping with the GF, but a pub is always a better choice. We then wandered across to Hyde Park, grabbed an ice cream and took in some more sights before heading up to Buckingham Palace, and then onto Covent Garden for some lunch.
The paella tastes amazing here (Found inside the Market itself) and is around £5 for a decent size portion!
After resting the feet and enjoying the busking in the Market, we headed down to Waterloo to ride the London Eye. I have been on this before, and it’s always a great way to see the whole of London and point out the sights. We grouped it together with a ticket for the London Dungeons and paid £30 each, which is really good considering the eye is around£24 each on its own. Just remember to book online! 
Ok, so far so good. We have got through a significant ammount of the list in one day, and that evening I took them for a Chinese all you can eat. China town was bustling with life and energy, which really added to the vibe and (I think) Matty and Kayla really enjoyed it. After chowing down a few plates of food, it was time for one more place to visit.

I have never taken them to a gay venue before, so just ‘forgot’ to mention it all day until we were heading there. I knew they would enjoy it, and with a few bottles of beer and wine amongst some of my friends, it turned into a bit of a drunken night. The feet ache slipped away as we sipped away the bottles in a club called The Green Carnation. You can visit their website here, and its always a nice venue to visit (Just remember to get onto guestlist to save on entry!).
Saturday was again spent sight-seeing. Waking up a little later than planned (thanks wine), I had organised for us to go over to the London Dungeons to have a bit of a fright! This is a MUST when you go to London, because not only is it chilling and makes you jump with every step you take, but also really educational. I learnt a lot more about this amazing city, and they even have a few rides inside! I couldn’t take any photos inside (the sign stated that I would be evicted if I did), but it is most definately worth a visit!
We managed to come out alive, just, and headed on up to Oxford and Carnaby street, via London Bridge, for a spot of shopping. By now, I think the realisation of how much walking we had done had hit Kaylas feet, but as any shopaholic knows; Pain is only tempoary, clothes last longer.
The funny thing that I have learnt in London is that time flies by everyday. We had about 6 hours until our dinner that evening, and had every intention of heading home to change beforehand. However, with the Starbucks breaks, and Lolas Cupcakes mid afternoon (see how good they are here), we ran out of time.
Dinner was at one of my fav resturants called Cote. It is a french eastery in Wardoor St, and a dish is around £15.00. What’s more, the portions are a perfect size. You will end up wanting more and contemplate ordering another main though.
What is better than a meal out and a few more bottles of wine, than to head to M&M World afterwards. You will end up buying the most overpriced bag of M&M’s in the UK, but at the same time you can pose with life size figures and have a giggle with some of the fun things in there!
Even more… it is open until Midnight! FANTASTIC 
By the time we got home Saturday evening, we had pretty much covered a lot of London. One thing left was to spend our Sunday roaming a London market and have some lunch before they headed off in the afternoon. I decided, out of all the markets, to take them up to Spitalfields. It is a huge open-air market with so many stalls, and again we spent a good couple of hours roaming around before getting ‘noodles in a pot’ and watching the world go by.
Before I knew it, Sunday afternoon had arrived and it was time for them to depart. Like we kept saying, time flew by and we crammed in as much of London as we could. With their feet aching, boot loaded with new goodies, and an expensive bag of M&M’s, they headed off back to the countryside where everything is a little quieter and slower.
One thing I most definately can say is that I had one of the best weekends in a while, and was really sad to see them go…
At least I was a good tour guide!
